EMOTIONAL SATISFACTION EP2 : What I have discovered.

I saw a nollywood movie one time titled “Ambivalent”. In the movie, the lady was complaining about how she felt unsatisfied emotionally because her husband wasn’t always home and didn’t give her much attention as she craved and this really got me thinking because to be honest I’ve felt that way before. As a matter of fact, I’ve always felt that way at some point in my relationships, feeling like every other thing comes first before me and I believe we’ve all felt that way before especially we ladies. The truth is that it makes a woman feel unloved, uncared for and not valued.

Emotional needs play an important part in relationship satisfaction. If they’re fulfilled, you might feel contented, excited, or joyful and would do anything for your spouse at that point when the love tank is full. When they go unmet, on the other hand, you might feel frustrated, hurt, or confused.
That said, your partner does not have a responsibility to meet all of your needs, especially your emotional needs.

You see this thing I said in my previous post EMOTIONAL SATISFACTION : An important skill for a long lasting bond. about childhood and past experiences forming our emotional capabilities? It’s not a joke! If you are not emotionally healed, you cannot be satisfied and you cannot satisfy another human. If you are whole and you meet someone who does not know how to express emotions, there will always be a rift.

Most times it’s not that our partner is not doing enough or are complaining too much, it’s simply because we are not emotionally whole! You need to heal from past traumas, you need to heal from your childhood experiences, you need to break free from some patterns holding you back.

The past defines nearly everything about us: our emotions, beliefs, desires and preferences. We are the sum of our history. To ignore it is to be blind to the currents that sweep us along through life.

PS : I’m not saying our parents were wrong with the way they brought us up, but the truth is that they didn’t know any better. This is why you need to reflect.

Being emotionally dependent on your spouse is a beautiful thing and if you are with someone who satisfies you emotionally, you’re blessed. But then, there are a million and one women out there who still struggle with the fact that they can’t seem to connect emotionally with their partner. Not knowing the root cause of this. This is why you need to learn about yourself and your partner as well.

Understanding the simple fact that both men and women are wired differently and the fact that no one is solely responsible for your emotional satisfaction sets you off for good. A lot of things will make sense when we are emotionally whole… To be continued

In my next post I will be talking about the importance of Emotional satisfaction and sharing some simple hacks on how to navigate our emotions when we are feeling unsatisfied.
