Relationship Goals Series Week 1 : Love is not a vibe – It’s a decision.

I watched a movie yesterday on Prime called “Relationship Goals.”

Some parts were sweet.

Some parts were complicated.

Some moments felt clear, others a little unfinished.

But when the screen went dark, the questions it raised stayed with me. And maybe that’s the point, because real life rarely wraps itself in neat endings.

Most of us are out here trying to figure out love with feelings we don’t fully understand, expectations we didn’t plan for, and hearts that just want to be chosen.

Watching it made me realize something:

we talk a lot about finding love… but we don’t talk enough about choosing it well.

So welcome to our February Saturday Series on Love Realities.

Every Saturday this month, we’ll unpack a different layer of what “relationship goals” should actually mean in real life – not just on screens, not just in fantasies, but in healthy, honest, sustainable love.

And today, we start here:

Love is not a vibe — it’s a decision.

Feelings are powerful.

Chemistry is exciting.

Butterflies can make even red flags look romantic.

But vibes are temporary visitors.

Decisions are what build homes.

Like we saw in the film, attraction can pull people together, misunderstandings can push them apart, and emotions can drive almost every move. And honestly? That’s how many of us date.

We feel our way into relationships.

We hope our way into commitment.

We assume alignment will magically appear later.

But intention asks harder, braver questions.

  •  Does this person have the character to love me well?
  • Are our values moving in the same direction?
  • When the excitement settles, will respect remain?
  • Is this someone I can build peace with, not just passion?

Because sparks can start a fire, yes –

but decision is what keeps it burning safely.

Real love isn’t proven when things are intense.

It’s proven in consistency.

It’s in who calls when they’re busy.

Who explains instead of disappearing.

Who considers your heart when they’re stressed.

Who chooses honesty when lies would be easier.

That’s not a vibe.

That’s intention!

And faith teaches us this too. God doesn’t love us based on changing emotions.

He loves us steadily, faithfully, on purpose.

So if we’re praying for love that reflects Him, we also have to understand commitment beyond butterflies.

Let me say something gently 💖

Attraction may introduce you, but intention reveals who plans to stay.

You deserve to be chosen deliberately.

Not conveniently.

Not emotionally.

Not temporarily.

Deliberately.

If the movie reminded us of anything, it’s how easy it is to confuse excitement for direction.

But in real life, we need both heart and wisdom.

As we go through this month together, we’re going to talk honestly;

About expectations.

About potential.

About readiness.

About peace.

The goal is not judgment.

The goal is clarity.

Because clarity saves hearts.

If you’ve ever mistaken butterflies for confirmation…

If you’ve ever stayed because it felt good even when it wasn’t good for you…

If you’re learning to date with both your emotions and your discernment —

you are exactly who this series is for 💖

And we’re just getting started.

Next Saturday:

we’re talking about the trap of loving who someone could be.

Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next Saturday.

PS : You can watch the movie on Prime Video.
