EPISODE 9
THE DILEMMA 

Victoria sought to discredit Emily and sabotage her company.

“You’re no better than your father,” Victoria sneered.”At least he had vision.”
“Leave my father out of this,” Emily demanded.”This is business.”
“I’ll crush you and everything you ever worked for will crash right before your very own eyes” Victoria threatened after a business meeting with a client who both companies were trying to market to.

“You’re just a toothless bulldog, stop the rant and show me what the hell you’re made of, let me put you in your place”. Emily said, shutting her up.

Emily started becoming worried and anxious about Victoria’s threat, fear was lurking and she had no idea what to do…

One night she had a dream where she discovers more secrets about her family’s past and the company. “Dad, why didn’t you tell me” she asks her father in her dream.

Her father’s voice echoed “Protection, Emily. I didn’t want you involved.”
“But this is too much for me, I can’t handle it,

I can’t Dad” Emily complained

“I wouldn’t have left you in charge if I didn’t trust your capacity, you can do it my child, you can” Her dad replied her and slowly vanishing as she woke up breathing heavily and sweating profusely.
Emily must decide whether to reveal the truth or keep the secrets buried.

Victoria, the rival CEO hated Emily’s guts so much that she kept on looking for ways to discredit her. She decides to sabotage Emily and James’ relationship, thinking that targeting Emily’s heart would weaken her.

James’ Past

James has a hidden past, a painful experience that makes him wary of commitment. He didn’t know how to open up to Emily, fearing that He might lose her.

James’ previous relationship ended in betrayal. His ex, Racheal left him heartbroken. He was planning on engaging her on the evening of her birthday, not knowing she just said “I do” in front of the altar to another man. And he got to find out few hours to the supposed time of his own proposal.
After that, James struggled to trust again. Fear of being hurt all over again held him back.

Emily struggles with self-doubt and insecurity. She was beginning to feel overwhelmed.
The family secrets and business rivalries made her start questioning James’ intentions.
“James, why are you really here?” Emily asked.”For me or my company?”

“I feel like you’re hiding something,” Emily said.”Can I trust you?”
James confesses his past trauma and fears and this time in details. Apologising for not telling her on time as he was scared of losing her.
Emily listens “James, I’m here for you,” Emily said.”I won’t hurt you.”
They both work together to rebuild trust, open communication and vulnerability.
“Emily, I promise to always be honest,” James vowed.”No more secrets.”
Emily smiles feeling secure but scared to reveal her own past to avoid being loved out of pity.
“I trust you, James,” Emily said.” Completely.”
She decided to open up to James about her rape case and everything about her in details. She vowed to bring the rapist to justice, no matter who the person may be.

Victoria, discovers James’ past and planned to use it against Emily.

“Emily, James is using you,” Victoria lied as she barged into Emily’s office on a fine Monday morning.”For your company.”

Emily’s trust is tested again.
Will Emily believe Victoria’s lies? or James’ truth or rather James words.

Emily’s eyes narrowed, her mind racing with doubts. Victoria’s words struck a chord, resonating with her deep-seated fears, it felt like dejà vù as she just sat there speechless.

She turned to James who walked in almost immediately as she saw Victoria walking to Emily’s office, her eyes locked in his searching for reassurance.
“James, is this true?” Emily asked, her voice laced with uncertainty.

James’ expression turned grave, his eyes locked onto Emily’s. “No, Emily. That’s not true. Victoria’s trying to manipulate you.”
Emily’s gaze lingered on James’, seeking the truth. She saw the sincerity in his eyes, the pain of his past still evident.”Victoria, why are you doing this?” Emily asked, her voice firm.

Victoria smirked. “I’m just protecting my interests, Emily. You’re blinded by love.”
James stepped forward, his voice steady. “Emily, I promised to always be honest with you. Trust me, please.”
Emily’s heart wavered, torn between her doubts and James’ vows. She recalled their moments together, the way James made her feel.
“Victoria, I won’t fall for your lies,” Emily said, her voice resolute. “James and I will face this together.”
Victoria’s smile faltered, her eyes flashing with anger. “You’ll regret this, Emily.”

Emily’s resolve to trust James strengthened, but Victoria’s words lingered, stirring James’ inner demons. The memories he thought he’d buried began to resurface.

One evening, as Emily and James walked along the beach, James’ pace slowed. His eyes glazed over, lost in thought.
“James, what’s wrong?” Emily asked, sensing his unease.
James’ voice barely above a whisper, “Rachel’s birthday was yesterday.”
Emily’s grip on his hand tightened. “I’m here for you, James.”
James’ eyes snapped back to reality, his gaze locking onto Emily’s. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring it up.”
Emily’s expression softened. “You don’t have to apologize. Your past is part of you.”
As the sun dipped below the horizon, James’ walls began to crumble. He shared memories of Rachel’s betrayal, the pain and anger he thought he’d overcome.
Emily listened, her empathy and understanding a balm to James’ wounds.
“I feel like I’m failing you, Emily,” James said, his voice cracking. “I’m still haunted by my past.”

Emily’s arms enveloped him. “You’re not failing me, James. You’re facing your demons. That takes courage.”
In that moment, James realized Emily’s trust and love were his catalyst for healing.

Victoria’s Next Move

Victoria’s eyes gleamed with calculation as she watched James and Emily’s intimate moment. She knew James’ vulnerability was her ticket to destroying Emily’s trust.

Victoria’s assistant, Alex, approached her. “We’ve dug up more dirt on James’ past.”
Victoria’s smile grew wider. “Perfect timing. Let’s use this to our advantage.”
Alex handed Victoria a folder containing James’ confidential files. Victoria’s eyes scanned the documents, her mind racing with strategies.
“Alex, draft a press release exposing James’ troubled past. We’ll make Emily question his intentions.”
Alex hesitated. “Are you sure this is wise? It could backfire.”
Victoria’s gaze turned icy. “I know what I’m doing. This will crush Emily’s trust in James.”

As Victoria’s plan unfolded, James and Emily’s relationship was put to the test again.
Emily’s phone buzzed with an alert from a prominent news outlet, letting her know what was about to be published. Her heart sank as she read the headlines:
“James’ Dark Past Exposed: Is Emily’s Business Partner a Liability?”
Emily’s mind reeled with doubts. Was James using her for her company?
James appeared beside her, his expression grim. “Emily, I—”
“James, what’s going on?” Emily asked, her voice laced with uncertainty. James took a deep breath. “Victoria’s behind this. She’s trying to ruin us.”
Emily’s eyes searched James’. “But is it true? Are you hiding something from me? “James’ face contorted in anguish. “Emily, I swear—”
Emily’s phone rang, interrupting James. Victoria’s voice dripped with malice on the other end.
“Emily, darling. You deserve the truth. Let’s meet up tomorrow at noon”
Emily’s grip on her phone tightened. “Victoria, what do you want?”
Victoria’s laughter sent chills down Emily’s spine. “You’ll see soon enough.”
This really left Emily speechless. She just looked at James, just staring at him like there was a clue in his eyes.

James at that point froze and somehow he couldn’t find the words to continue what he was saying.

Emily ended the call, picked up her bag and headed home. “There’s something about the scar on his face, what exactly could it be” she thought to herself while she drove home. Well, there’s only one way to find out, “tomorrow at noon” she told herself.
